How Edward Snowden could change the face of journalism

The name Edward Snowden has become infamous due to an article released by The Guardian about the National Security Agency's spy program known as Prism. Snowden exposed how the surveillance system monitored Internet communications for millions of Americans and gathered the metadata on all phone calls in the US and now many are questioning the right to a free and open press. Many believe that Glenn Greenwald's story could change way journalists do their jobs. Craig Aaron, president and CEO of Free Press, weighs in.

Spy-crazed US Gov't Spies On Self

 

 The US government is even spying on itself, through a program called the Insider Threat Program. President Obama instituted it right after Bradley Manning's leaks came out. It is designed to force federal workers of every agency to rat out their coworkers if they think they are acting like they might want to leak something or talk to anyone about their jobs. Police kill dog while arresting owner for videotaping

Leon Rosby, 52, says Hawthorne, California police killed his rottweiler Max while he was being arrested. The man was filming the investigation of a robbery scene in Hawthorne Sunday evening, and as he was being handcuffed by police, the dog sprung out the window and lunged at the officers. One responded, firing several shots and killing the dog. The video has gone viral. It's a disturbing scene and some have also wondered if it illuminates other police tactics. Los Angeles community organizer Ron Gochez joins us to explain what happened.
